Have you ever felt pulled in two directions at once? Joy and grief sitting side by side. Strength and tenderness asking for the same space in your heart. Most of us were taught to choose a side: keep the light, hide the shadow, smile through the hard parts. But there is an ancient energy that invites a different path, one where nothing about you needs to be cast out. That energy is Abraxis.

Today, let's explore who Abraxis is, why this energy is stirring in so many of us right now, and how you can welcome its quiet miracle into your own life.

Who (or What) Is Abraxis?

Abraxis, also spelled Abraxas or Abrasax, is one of the most mysterious figures in the spiritual traditions of the ancient world. The name first appears among the Gnostics of the second century, especially the followers of the teacher Basilides of Alexandria, who honored Abraxis as a supreme, all-encompassing divine power.

There is magic even in the name itself. When the Greek letters of Abrasax are added together by their numerical values, they total 365, the number of days in a year. To the ancients, this meant Abraxis held the whole cycle of time: every sunrise, every season, every ending and beginning. Some teachings described 365 heavens, all flowing from this one source.

Abraxis was also carved onto gemstones and amulets carried for protection and blessing. These "Abraxas stones" often showed a striking figure: the head of a rooster (greeting the dawn), the body of a human, and legs of serpents (rooted in the earth and its wisdom). It is a body made of symbols, a reminder that the divine is not one simple thing but a weaving of many.

The Heart of the Miracle: The Union of Opposites

Centuries later, the psychiatrist Carl Jung brought Abraxis back into the light. In his private visionary writings, Jung described Abraxis as the power that holds opposites together: light and darkness, creation and destruction, the sacred and the human. Around the same time, Hermann Hesse's novel Demian named Abraxis as a god who unites what we usually split apart.

This is where the true miracle lives.

Abraxis energy does not ask you to become perfect. It asks you to become whole. It reminds us that:

  • Your sensitivity and your strength come from the same source.

  • Your seasons of rest are as sacred as your seasons of growth.

  • The parts of you that you've hidden away still belong to you, and they carry gifts.

  • Healing doesn't mean erasing the dark. It means bringing it home into the light of compassion.

When we stop fighting ourselves, something remarkable happens. The energy we spent holding parts of ourselves at a distance is freed. We breathe easier. We stop performing and start living. That softening, that return to wholeness, is the miracle of Abraxis.

Signs Abraxis Energy Is Calling You

You may be feeling the pull of this energy if:

  • You're tired of "good vibes only" and long for something more honest.

  • Old emotions you thought were finished are rising to be felt.

  • You're standing at a crossroads where both paths feel meaningful.

  • You notice paradox everywhere and find it oddly comforting or disturbing.

  • You feel ready to love yourself completely, not just your best days.

None of these are signs that something is wrong. They are invitations to integrate.

Welcoming Abraxis Energy Into Your Life

Here are a few gentle practices to help you connect.

1. The Two-Hands Meditation Sit comfortably and rest your hands, palms up, on your knees. In your left hand, imagine placing something you struggle with: a fear, a wound, a habit. In your right, place a quality you treasure in yourself. Breathe slowly and notice both. Then bring your palms together at your heart and silently say: "All of me is welcome here." Stay for a few breaths, feeling the two become one.

2. Shadow and Light Journaling Try these prompts:

  • What part of me have I been trying to hide, and what might it be protecting?

  • When has a painful experience later revealed a hidden gift?

  • What would change if I stopped labeling my feelings as "good" or "bad"?

3. A 365 Intention Honor the number of Abraxis by choosing one word to carry through the coming year. Write it somewhere you'll see it each morning. Let it be a word of wholeness, such as balance, embrace, harmony, or enough.

4. Dawn Connection The rooster on the ancient amulets greets the rising sun. Once this week, try stepping outside (or simply sitting by a window) at sunrise. Watch night and day meet. Let that meeting remind you that endings and beginnings are partners, not enemies.

5. Speak Your Wholeness The name Abraxis was once spoken as a sacred word of power. Create your own affirmation and say it aloud each day, such as: "I am light and shadow, strength and softness. I am whole, and I am enough."

A Gentle Reminder

Abraxis energy is a symbol and a spiritual companion. It works beautifully alongside, never in place of, the care of doctors, therapists, and other trusted support. If shadow work brings up heavy emotions, please be tender with yourself and reach out to a professional you trust. Wholeness includes asking for help.

Closing Blessing

May you,

  1. Stop dividing yourself into pieces.

  2. Honor your dark nights and your bright mornings alike.

  3. Discover that nothing within you is beyond love.

  4. And may the ancient miracle of Abraxis remind you, every one of your 365 days, that you were always whole.

With radiant light.
